Can i use 90W power adapter over 120W power adapter for Asus GL502VT?

I just bought an Asus GL502VT from BESTBUY, but I noticed that the power brick is super heavy to carry to school. My friend suggest me to buy a 90W power adapter on asus store to carry to school?

Is that possible to do so, cuz it will save me a lot of energy?

Most probably, it will work (providing that connection is the same), but not full-speed.
Why not go with your laptop to a store where this 90W adapter is used to power demo laptop, and try your laptop there?

Not recommended. It can run at reduced performance, not charge the battery at all while on, and the most dangerous of all, running hot. It needs 120W? Madre Mia! makes my 45w charger decisively svelte.

My 10-year old Dell laptop recognizes whether it has 60W or 90W brick, and adjusts the performance accordingly. I doubt modern-day laptops wont do that.

I just found out that the laptop actually used 180 W power adapter, so I think I have to use it rather than the 90W. Thanks all for the help.
