I have an old 2005 model rear projection tv, and fiber optics cable running to my wall. How do I get it working on my TV without the actual digital box the company provides. The Tv Modle is JVC hd-56g886. If I need a converter can you please let me know what type. Thank You

If your cable company provides a box that uses the fiber optic cable as its input then there is no way to bypass that box. Your TV has an optical audio output not an input. Call your cable provider for details.

It works on a newer model tv, just dont understand why it would work on one and not the other.

I don't know of any TV that has a fiber optic input. They all have toslink audio output. In any case projectors don't have any kind of tuner built in so even if you had an RF coax cable there would be no way to use it.
