cannot center picture

I have a Phillips 34" HDTV Widescreen CRT and I had been using a Dishnetwork
6000 receiver with the set. I recently upgraded the receiver to a 811. With
the 811 I cannot center the 16:9 or 4:3 picture. Everything I have tried
doesn't seem to work. I had no problem with the 6000 centering a picture.
Using the 811 on my 55" Mitsubishi I have no problem.

I am not sure your centering problems occurs, horizontal or vertical, but I
guess you are using some type of centering mechanism in the receiver? Does
it react the same on different inputs and resolutions? Did you have to
adjust the picture with your old receiver in the same manner from default.
If so, have you checked the alignment of the CRT?

I would guess that if you have no problems with OTA signals and you did not
have to modify the old receiver that you might have a defective receiver
now.

My problem appears to be with the 811, which I have two and I switched both
out and on both of my television sets. For some reason the Phillips doesn't
handle the 811 the component Y,Pb,Pr connection. When not connected to the
component connection I have no problem centering images. The older model
6000 receiver centers just fine, go figure.

I have talked to Dishnetwork techs and they couldn't come up with an answer.

We have the same problem at the Sears store where I work. The picture is
shifted to the left on the Philips sets, and not on any other brand when using
the 811. The picture is centered ok using the 6000 or a Samsung OTA STB.

I've been waiting to here back from Phillips to see what kind a answer they
give. Rather strange, at least you are having the same problem.

When you get down to it, there is no perfect system out there..............
