can't get sound out of j tech hdmi 1 to 2 splitter (j-tech)

I have a J-tech HDMI 1-input to 2 output splitter. I want to use it to watch our cable tv inside and outdoor tv projection screen in the backyard, i can see the picture for both but no sound? I have used this set up twice now without issue, looking for ideas of what it could be. I know that the order of set up can effect the success, I have tried several ways with no luck. I am using two receivers by the way.

Did you try the reset button on the splitter?
Do you get audio when you connect the cable box directly to each receiver?
If so then the splitter might be the problem.

The J-tech does not have a reset button unfortunately. Yes I get sound when I go direct to either set up. I agree, I am starting to this unit has malfunctioned...
