In 2010 alone, there were 8,775 people murdered with guns in the US of A.

How many people were killed by video games?

How about Trayvon Martin, murdered in "self-defense" - armed with a bag of Skittles? And the murder is not arrested.

Send the Police Chief bags of SOUR Skittles.

His name is Bill lee. The info below is the official police email and address:

Considering the MILLIONS of people all over the world who play GTA and other shooters (about 130 million PS3 & 360 consoles combined / 65m each)... wouldn't that mean we would have about 12~15 million mass-murderers? Or even a million?

No... we get about 1-2 a year or so that is blamed on "games". I made about 500 kills last night with online gaming against other humans. I've never shot or killed another human being in my life.

Compared that to about 9000 people killed by guns each year in the USA alone?

Yeah, we NEED stronger gun laws... hand guns are not for hunting. And going against the govt... well, that doesn't work. The US Military has far bigger toys than ANY civilian... A militant extremist may have hundreds of AR-15s in his trailer-home... a few rounds from an AH-64 Apache will take care of him quick.

If this passes, I will urge everyone to confront their congressman and demand a warning label be placed on every pizza box, every box of oreos, every hamburger, and happy meal, every milkshake and ice-cream package

"WARNING: Consumption of food has been linked to obesity, diabetes and death."

I love how it's the video game makers who should be responsible for educating parents. It takes all of 5 seconds to do a google search on any video game in existance to find out if it's something you want your kid playing. Also, if your kid IS playing violent video games, it's the parent's job to make sure they know the difference between right and wrong, and real and fake.

This "Congressman" wants to know why America sucks? Because idiots like him keep taking responsibility from the parents making them lazy and ineffective.

Should this pass, the next logical step is as follows:

A gamer sees a warning box on his copy of the new release Mass Effect 3, "WARNING: ..." but then in the same store, in the same department suddenly on the television comes on one of those epic advertisements and he totally forgets about the warning, he want to save earth and defeat the reapers!

Little did he know, the same congressmen will observe this, then move to ban advertising of video games like they did with tobacco products.

We need to stop blaming video games and call the problem what it is - bad or ignorant parenting. You don't need a warning label, parents rarely even look at the ratings on the box as it is now... they just want their kid to shut up so they can be left alone, so they placate the child. There are websites dedicated to evaluating films, books, and games with the sole purpose of educating parents so they can can a tally of how many times the f-bomb is dropped in a film or game without having to evaluate it personally. The tools are there, use them, take responsibility, and put blame where it ought to be.

[citation][nom]A Bad Day[/nom]Change: "Politicians are like diapers. They need to be changed often and for the same reason."-Quoted from Despair Inc.I've seen a blender with a warning of "Do not stick your hand into the blender while its operational."Also, several years ago, my mom mentioned that some of Caterpillar Inc's lawyers recommended adding warning labels to the machinery, stating, "Caterpillar is not responsible for any misuse or abuse of the machinery.", due to fears of someone weaponizing a bulldozer and an idiot suing CAT for the property damages and loss of lives.[/citation]
My father worked as a claims supervisor for an insurance company when I was a kid.. I remember hearing about when they paid over 7million to a guy whose lawn mower blade came off and hit his son on the foot and they had to surgically remove the heel of his foot.. The catch is that the blade on the lawn mower came off because the guy was using the lawn mower to trim the hedges in front of his house.. They ended up paying out because they did not have warnings saying that one should not be trimming the hedges with a lawn mower..

"WARNING: Exposure to violent video games has been linked to aggressive behavior."

Prove it.

I have been playing video games all my life, I now have a 3 year old and I am concerned about him playing games intended for adults, so I take the time to look at what I give him, and I will continue to monitor what he has for the next 15 or so years.

If they put the warning label on everything people will get “desensitized’ to it and I it will have no effect. Why not adopt a rating system people already know like what is used for the movies, if the game is rated R then give it the warning.

I can understand this with M and above, but what sort of violence will you encounter in an E rated game like, oh, let's say a causal game like Peggle. Because the violence in that game is seriously understated, and it's a very violent game to the core.

Congress needs to worry about more pressing matters, such as a decent budget. Also, I'm all for getting rid of filibusters; I'm tired of good bills getting shot down because of it.

BETTER YET! What about we make the congressmen pay out of pocket for every minute after the first hour that they are speaking. Surely you don't need an hour on the floor all to yourself? Time is money, it's about time Congress treated it as such.

Perfect. +1 Much better way to apply such a law, and much more important, too - IMHO.

It amazes me how things evolve and people forget.... Not every crime or act of violence from a kid is linked to video games, movies, and/or music.... There still are CRAZY people out there. What ever happened to just being crazy? "My kid is the greatest and don't you dare tell me otherwise", no your kid is NUTS and should be institutionalized! Leave my entertainment alone, and let these people get back to work!

Really, the industry is moving to digital distribution anyway, so let them pass the law that these warnings have to be put on the product... what will the product be in digital download? Just put the warning in the long TOS no one reads anyway. I guess one day congress will want to put pictures of "victims" of video game related crimes on the "products".

I'm surprised they haven't tried to ban non-violent games like Sim City and Civilization yet. Imagine the warnings on those games. "WARNING: Playing leadership simulations has been linked to creating PACs, starting campaigns for public office, collecting millions in donations, and getting dominated by Senator Bob Smith's organization. Go back to playing COD, kid."

Considering that humankind has had violent tendencies since the beginning of time, I think all theaters, bars, restaurants, popular "date" locations, etc should have child sized/shaped signs on their entrances stating that "getting busy" has been shown to have violent outcomes.
