I'm sorry, a 10 year old girl can be restrained in other methods, using a taser on a 10 year old is sickening abuse. I've met abusive 10 year olds, and dealt with them, and using a taser, or force in general, was not how I solved it.

It's sickening to say the least. A suspension is too little, I say he should lose his job entirely, and it should go to court.

[citation][nom]xsamitt[/nom]Why not call for backup if he feared for his safety?[/citation]
He didn't fear for his safety he was establishing who is bad getting complacency essentially he roughed her up without punching her or something is what it probably is =p we all know this

This is only a portion of the story. The kid was in a 10 year frenzied berserker state. The cop has been suspended, but for because he used a teaser, but because he did use the video camera to record the whole thing.

Why didn't she just let the kid go places dirty for a couple of days? Eventually kids in school would start asking her why she smelled funny and she'd shower of her own accord.

My thoughts on the matter.. 1. Once the child becomes that irate.. TIME OUT IS NEEDED, and that doesnt mean time in a corner, but time away from mom and such. Once a police officer comes into play, it is the officers duty to seperate the 2 until tempers cool and situation is peaceful.. If the little girl gets more irate, then the police has 4 options. 1. GET PHYSICAL which trust me is muchhhhhhhh worse.
2. Bring out the ASP baton, in which 1 hit from one of those, is a wrap, that kid would have been Really hurt with 1 hit.
3. Pepper spray, which is OVER THE TOP,
4. TAZE.. and the officer in question didnt shoot the prongs, yet merely used it as a stun gun.. Getting Tazed is not that bad..
in the USMC i have been peppered sprayed, ASP training, and Tazzered.. I TAKE the tazer versus any of the others..

[citation][nom]icepick314[/nom]a kick in a groin = taser IMOi don't care if you're 10 year old girl...[/citation]

Unless the cop was a total wimp, why couldn't he just sit on her and put the cuffs on? I suppose if she kicked me in the nuts I would have tased her as well. I suppose the cop must have been smaller then the 10 year old girl?

At any rate I bet the cop is going to get into some trouble. Not to mention all the crap he is going to take from his fellow officers. I don't understand why parents don't control their kids anymore. The mother should have pimp slapped her and told her whats up. "Do as I say or you are off to camp for troubled youth."

end of story

I guess most of you have never been tazzed??? The police version is just one that shoots out the darts.. IT is indeed legal to purchase the ones that dont shoot. WHEN YOU GET TAZZED, the damage isnt the taze but the fall you take, and hit something.. I HAVE BEEN TAZZED, Stuned.. SAME feeling.. YOU CANT DO JACK. THAT is why police taze..
AND TRUST ME< I RATHER BE TAZZED Then pepper sprayed, or worse, HIT WITH A ASP BATON.. When people get messed up with tazers, it is because of a health condition, or of they fell on something that hurt them. AND Again, a taze is nothing compaired to a trained police officer hitting you in the knee/elbow/wrist with a tactical baton. NOW THAT is dangerous. 1 HIT to the knee, and BOOM shattered knee cap

Is this cop allowed to keep his job? Using a dangerous weapon on a child is one of the worst things you can do, not far behind raping the girl imo.
Tasers are illegal in most of the civilized world, where is it going to if these things are used on children?
Besides, what about the mother? If she had any sense and care, she could have raised her daughter without ever using violence, but I suppose she's one of these lower class idiots having more partners than years of schooling.
Here in Europe, 'only in America' is already becoming a common shout for things that are far beyond normality. This is another case...

[citation][nom]tester24[/nom]Hell yes I would, I'de even taz them myself.[/citation]

Please...by all means. You sure do talk A LOT. There is always a gang of talkers that sit back and give each other high-fives and think that this type of action is acceptable.

If you are so quick to say that you would taser your own child then please, by all means go ahead and do it. Please video it so we can all see you laugh and joke about it as your own flesh and blood is being electrocuted for your enjoyment.

It always makes me laugh when you people start praising to the heavens these psychotic cops as they taser innocent children. And I don't care that the child was being unruly to the parent or the cop. It's a 10 year old child.

I am most certain that there is not a single person on here that would take this lacksadaisical attitude toward police brutality if it struck closer to home.

In my opinion if you can somehow twist your sick mind into justifing and accepting this type of behavior then you are nothing more than a mindless coward.

Next time you see your child...especially a young one...try to imagine placing a taser to that young child and what pain and suffering they would be put through. I dare you to look into their eyes tonight and imagine that for them and see if you are still laughing about this.

[citation][nom]bill gates is your daddy[/nom]I think you and icepick314 should give up a child or if you don't have one then a family member and allow people to come by and randomly taser them while you watch. If it's so acceptable by you then there should not be a reason you would deny this request.......unless you are the type of person that believes that you are above everyone else and your opinions don't apply to you?Same sick mentality just like the freaks calling for world population control. How billions of people should be killed off for the safety of the planet. Are they offering thier own life and the lives of their families to start this great honor? I don't think so.[/citation]

If my son was told to sit still by a cop and instead kicked him in the groin then no, I wouldn't care if they tasered him briefly, especially if for some reason he actually acted that way. Children should learn that their are consequences for their actions, if a law enforcement officer tells you to do something you do it. This isn't Tienemen square where we rock the system for change. My only concern with the whole situation is her age as she is on that borderline of when a child truly becomes responsible. By 12 I was definately responsible for all of my actions and my parents made sure of it.

I take it you don't have children? You'd be suprised what they'll do and for how long they'll do it, either out of stubborness or pure stupidity. As non-emancipated minors children have their place. It is sad when a parent can't control their child. All of this namby pamby time-out stuff is ridiculous these days. A swift pop on the bottom a few times when they step out of line will teach them real quick about what happens when they step out of line.

Everyone is missing the point on this. The reason he was suspended was for violating department policy. The newer police issue Tazers have a camera built into them to record the event in case of a lawsuit. HE WAS SUSPENDED FOR NOT HAVING THE CAMARA TURNED ON!! Not for using the Tazer. Even the police department thinks he did the right thing; he just screwed up by not recording the event.
I agree with his use of the Tazer, I also agree with the suspension for not having the camera turned on. As for calling for backup, that’s crap, the last thing I want my tax dollars paying for is for 6 cops to make a 10 year old girl take a shower. Police have better things to do than discipline people’s kids. I think what would really help is if the police put out a brochure on "How to Beat your Kids" for example, you can use a belt, but not a stick. Make sure you use an open hand and not a fist. When they get a call like this they should hand them the brochure and drive on.
To me kids have 4 rights. The right to be shelter, the right to be fed, the right to an education, and the right to be not to be abused. An ass whoppin is not abuse. When a kid has bruises or broken bones that is child abuse. When they have a sore ass... that discipline.

Yeah, because a 180 lb grown man sitting on a 50 lb child certainly won't cause any damage. Have you ever tried to subdue someone in a frenzied state? Even someone significantly smaller than you can be daunting to subdue without hurting them in the process.

Amen brother, amen.

[citation][nom]mofogo[/nom]She obviously was not beaten enough at 2-9 years old.But seriously. How is a guy supposed to subdue a grown man if he can't subdue a 10 year old girl.[/citation]
Have you ever tried to restrain someone who is resisting like that? Its possible, but more than likely you will end up breaking their arms and/or wrists. It was safer for both the girl and the officer that she was tased.

cop tazed a punk 10 year old yeh he could man handled her and then faced possible lawsuit for grabbing and groping her "inappropriately". parent asked to taz her and the cop did.. so what's the beef? he didn't do it negligently or out of a whim. It was at the request of the parent. how bout tranquilizer shots?
