Recently got hold of an HPxt3280us with a pentium M 1.7. I researched that this motherboard can handle a Pentium m 2.3 MHz. The BIOS recognizes the new 2.3 CPU but only allows the computer to run at 1.7. My question is can I upgrade the BIOS to fully use my new processor or is there an other way? I checked the HP site but there are now update to solve my problem. Any ideas are appreciated.

Solution
If you did not update the BIOS to the latests, do that.

While the motherboard may technically be able to power up with the CPU, it does not mean that HP supports it. Could be a multiplier issue.
