I will try to be detailed and brief , my dell g5 5505 laptop was overheating and had fan issues . We ordered fans and re did thermal paste .
Computer was running like new with 0 hardware lag after this for 3 days .
I also noticed there was a windows update in my update notifications that I was pausing .
I’m not sure how but when I turned my laptop on the next day it went right into a Dell update if I can recall .after that I have not been able to post .
There seems to be no power to the keyboard or usb ports etc .
But the laptop is in a booting loop that restarts itself every 7-10 seconds .
Fans spin but I haven’t been able to get into Bios settings , no display / black screen.
We have tried pulling ram , restarting , pulling cmos , pulling ssd . Nothing is working !

They want me to spend money . My only hope is the Psu failed maybe other than that I guess it’s bricked
Not surprised since out of warranty.

When connected to the power supply, does the battery area feel warm? How about a power LED, is it on?

When I plug the ac adapter into the wall the blue ring lights up even before it’s in the laptop . Once I put the charger into the laptop the fans spin and backlit keyboard lights up then does this non stop . I let it run for 45 minutes to see if it would eventually boot but it didn’t .
I know that it’s not charging .. the white power light is the only light blinking … no amber ones . It’s almost like it’s in hibernation

Sure, you can upload to Youtube or a site like imgur.com and then post a link here. Direct posting of videos/images is not supported.

Should it still charge if it isn’t posting ?
Yes, if the battery isn't fully charged, it will charge even if the laptop is powered off.

If you power on, does the device stay on (even if not booting) indefinitely? Just sits there stuck?

If so, if you press and hold the power button down, does the system eventually power off?

Does anything ever appear on screen?

Do you have access to an external screen that you can attach and see if anything pops onto it?

It’s hard to say , I gamed like 7 hours straight the night before and was a storm outside . I saw that my computer had the pending update icon … I try to keep that stuff paused ..when I turned it in I saw dell update which I thought was for audio ..we did test the end of the charger with volt meter and it had power on the end part

I have a display I could try that again , when I plugged usb I get nothing because it isn’t posting … will hdmi work to the monitor without post ,?

The intent of my questions is to (hopefully) isolate possible issues, like an internal display issue, or a defective battery. You following me?

Understood. The only Dell update, in my opinion, that could possibly brick a laptop would be a failed BIOS update. Those require a restart and must have the power adapter attached. Sounds like that was not the case with your scenario.

I saw those pending updates and turned it off it was plugged in . And when I turned it on that’s when I saw the Dell update start immediately which I thought was the sound driver
