Dell Inspiron laptop to LG tv via VGA....no signal anymore!

My laptop is saying that one of the usb devices has malfunctioned and windows doesn't recognize it. the port location is shown in bold. reconnect or replace device.....Help me PLEASE.

Unplugging it from the computer and plugging it back in. Then press the fn key along with whatever F key has an icon of a monitor and a tv on it. See if that gets them to register again.
