Dell XPS 13 2015 blinking orange light?

1) My 6-week old laptop refuses to boot up. The LED under the mousepad is blinking 2 orange lights, 1 white. The screen is black. When I tried a hard power down, the power button goes dark for a nanosecond and comes back on. (The LED on the caps key stays off.)
2) I called tech support at Dell, but after 3 days of talking with "Patrick", I still do not have an authorization to send it in for repair.
3) "Patrick" wanted me to take the back off and remove the battery, but I believe that voids the warranty. Correct?

Actually it will not void the warranty since it's part of the troubleshooting steps that needs to be done by a technical support rep from Dell. Here's a complete troubleshooting steps that may help as well.
- Start by doing a hard reboot, remove the battery and unplug the AC adapter then press and hold the power button for 20 seconds then try booting it up again.
- If this will not work, do test the AC adapter if it's working properly. Remove the battery and power the laptop with just the AC adapter connected and see if it will boot up or not. do also try a different AC adapter that has the same voltage and see if it will work or not.
- Proceed with reseating the RAM's if trying a different AC adapter will not work, remove them all for couple of seconds then put them back in making sure everything is seated properly.
- If it will still not work, connect an external monitor and see if you'll get any display from it. If there's a display on the external monitor that could mean that the problem is the built in display.
- But if there's still no display on the external monitor that means the problem lies in the motherboard.

Well, if you have been asked to open the back cover, then have a look at the power connector. I have a DELL XPS 13 which does go blinking orange every now and then and after several return to DELL service, without any long term effect, I found that the issue to with the power socket metallic shell touching a little lug at its rear side or the adjacent screw holding the screen. What I did was to put a piece of thin insulating tape on the housing under the power socket, making sure it covers the little lug and adjacent screw. I have to replace that insulation from time to time (6months +) as it gets perforated by multiple power connector insertion which obviously move the power connector housing. Anyway much cheaper than returning the PC and more effective.The test to see if that is your problem is simple: remove the screw holding the power socket and plug in the power supply making sure the socket is free of the PC housing.

How did you get it fixed eventually? Did the battery removal trick work or did you send it in for repair? I have the exact same issue on a XPS13 9360 model: no Dell boot logo, 2 orange & 1 white led.
