I have taken apart this Laptop to replace the motherboard, and I have come across of a loose small ribbon that, according to the information I have found is the Hall sensor.
I would like to know exactly, if possible with a diagram where this ribbon is connected to,and if it is an essential part for the working of the laptop.
I am enclosing a picture of the ribbon for your information.
Your assistance with this minor problem, would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there. Thanks for your input.I think I finally found out where physically this ribbon is located on the Laptop. Under the plastic cover next to two other ribbons that are underneath the touch pad. You are correct,it is not a vital component.
Take care, and keep up the good work!
The Hall Sensor detects when the laptop's lid has been closed, upon which event the laptop reacts according to the "When I close the lid" setting in Windows Power Options.

No idea where it fits but obviously not a vital component.
