I'm trying to figure out what channels I can get with a 30" dish vs. 8'. Is
there an easy to ready chart somewhere for a newbie like me?

anything on C-band only you cannot get without a Large Dish KU is fine
Most signals are broadcasted in both C and KU bands.

Why don't you figure out what programming you want then match the size dish
to get it.
