Can anyone tell me a model number for a 3-chip DLP projection TV that
eliminates the "rainbow effect" that is available in stores now?

Thanks,

Runco?? Never heard of them.
Do you have any ideas from a known manufacturer like Sony, Mitsubishi,
Hitachi?

Runco is a high end home theater specialty company. The last I read,
none of the mainstream consumer electronic companies - Samsung, Mit,
Hitachi, Toshiba, etc (Sony does not sell DLP sets) - has introduced a 3
chip DLP RP TV yet. The DLP chipset and optics are the most expensive
part of the DLP TVs, so adding additional optics and controls for 3 DLP
chips will add to the cost by a lot. The mainstream companies are
directing their marketing efforts to higher resolution and newer TI DLP
chips, rather than going to the 3 DLP set. There are several pretty
expensive 3 DLP front projectors I think - $20 to $30K range IIRC, but I
don't have any details.

If the rainbow effect is that big a concern, get a LCD RP TV, the JVC
D-ILA, or get a good plasma.

Runco is probably the biggest name in high quality home theatre projectors.
See Runco.com

I was thinking about the JVC D-ILA, but then I saw it side by side with an
RCA Scenium DLP and the picture on the RCA was far better, yet I don't know
that it had a rainbow effect.

If you can't see it it doesn't really matter.

e.g. CRT monitors have a 'flicker' problem... but if the refresh rate is
higher than the sensitivity of your eyes you don't see it. Same with the
rainbow effect, if the wheel rpm is high enough that you can't see the
fact that its there then it doesn't really matter.

Infocus do a 3 chip projector known as the 777. It retails at a shade
under £20000 GBP, take a look at www.infocus.com for further details

I have an infocus 7205 which is single chip 7 segment 5 speed colour
wheel, with a picture quality that will knock your socks off! If you
have £20000 spare the 777 will be the perfect projector for any
serious videophile - It just don't get any better.....
