Downloads folder not working windows 8.

I have recently had to download video conversions into my download folder to make a video on windows move maker. Now everytime I open my downloads folder, after about 2 seconds, it just shuts itself again, I can;t access anything from the file using any other programs. (can't open a word document from it, without word shutting down.) The program just says it 'encountered an error' and closes. Please help!!

Where exactly did you download the conversions from?

Had exactly the same issue, after downloading video file from chrome into the downloads file.

I have fixed it by

1. right click on the downloads folder
2. click 'properties'
3. customise tab > optimise this folder for:
4. choose 'video'
5. click 'apply'
6. was able to then see the content of the downloads folder and delete the video file.
