Dvd reading cd not

my laptop reads DVD but not CD what to do is it a software problem or hardware
Toshiba satellite
DVD rw
if its a software problem what tools or software is required plz inform
if hardware wht to do

Have you made sure that it is any CD that it wont read or just one in particular? If it is just one then it is likely the CD itself.

hi wamphryi onlly local cds are not running original cds are still running
