[citation][nom]Ragnar-Kon[/nom]It appears as though the masses disagree with you. Far Cry 2 sold 1 million copies in its first 3 weeks. Modern Warfare 2 sold 4.7 million copies its first DAY.Half Life 2 has sold about 8.6 million copies to date, again, only twice as much as Modern Warfare 2 sold in its first day.I personally hated Far Cry 2, but Half Life 2 was definitely one of the better games I've played. Modern Warfare 2, however, it just in another class of it own. I will say as a PC player that I was and still am disappointed by the lack of dedicated servers. But I won't take that one downfall and label the entire game as "horrible."[/citation]

Sales don't mean a damn thing sir.

[citation][nom]lasaldude[/nom]Modern Warfare 2 is an fun game for a bit, but no way is it a good or great game. Half-life 2 and Far Cry 2 are light years a head of that piece of shit that came out years after those two games. I thought you're supposed to learn from previous generations?[/citation]

lol at ur choice... Half life 2 is great... but Far Cry 2 was a fail.

Well said, I mean, yes Activision screwed over IW, which ultimately screwed over the game, MW2, however the game was still fairly decent and actually alot of fun; lay off on the fanboyism will ya, just cuz IW "betrayed" half of you PC gamers. I still think MW2 on PC > console.

[citation][nom]dameon51[/nom]The masses always watch Twilight. Does that make it a good movie\book\whatever?[/citation]

The massed also watch UFC, does that mean it's supposedly hyped up and is not worth ur while? nope, it most certainly is.

Oh and FYI the "masses" don't all watch, Twilight, but rather only the 14 yr old skanks or "fairy-tale queens"... watch that POS.

I don't see what all the fuss is about, really...

Everyone blames Activision for the way the PC version ended up, but that was IW decision, do you think these guys are now going to join Respawn and suddenly give us a game on the PC we like? It has nothing to do with control over the design of the game, they left over unpaid royalties.

Respawn will make games, but the system they developed (of making a PC game exactly the same as a console game will still apply) they will still want to screw you over for DLC, it will still be a locked system without mod tools, maybe just maybe we will get dedicated servers if we are lucky but it will be like Dices BFBC2 where you cannot alter anything on the server you own, cannot add custom maps, cannot mod anything at all

PC games are being gimped by all developers now, why? So they can screw us over for DLC, why let the community make hundreds if not thousands of free maps and mods for peoples enjoyment when they can screw you over for $15 for 3 maps?

So personally I can't see why you are all excited, Respawn will just screw you over just the same, you are not loyal customers to them, just a pay cheque

[citation][nom]Ragnar-Kon[/nom]Ah, well the tech of MW2 is far from current or groundbreaking. The IW engine just seems outdated to me compared to the newer engines like Crytek. But as far as the quality of the game, that is something I haven't seen in a long time. And sales to me seems something more than just hype. If people like the game, they'll buy the game, if they don't... well it just won't sell.Having said that, I do think MW2 was definitely more advertised than most games, and that probably had a huge impact on first week sales numbers. But I don't think the advertising and hype alone can sell 11 million copies.[/citation]

How would they know if they like the game before they bought it on opening day? It's not like they tried it out first at a friend's house...

No, those first day sales were all hype buyers, the true test is how it does over time. I'd suggest that hype games have a decreasing sales curve, and quality games have a bell shaped sales curve. People buy hype the first day, then the game sucks so sales plummet. Good games get good reviews and friends recommend the game, so sales actually pick up once it has been out for a bit. Just sayin'.

W/e happens, i just hope the Respawn guys don't try to make a MW2 + Crysis combo.. cuz that would just blow... MW2 is amazing... ie the concept of modern warfare using the same settings/gameplay as the original Modern Warfare, which if made into a new game hopefully MW3, it would definitely be amazing, considering how much control these guys have now over their release.

I will, it is horrible. Its filled with hacking and/or annoying 12 yo.

BFBC2 just killed MW2 in a week.

Avatar was the best selling bluray ever, that doesn't mean its a great movie... Its visually beautiful but nothing more, like MW2.

The game generated over a billion dollars in revenue after 6 weeks in the wild; it's still selling 100,000 copies a week nearly 6 months later. Not exactly the kind of numbers that say "hey, this game is sucks and the only reason people are buying it is because the liberal media sold it to them." But, if people can't separate their opinions from business facts, then they should expect to be wrong from time to time.

ok 1 major problem with your comment. half life 2 was never released for the console.

Yeah anything PC > Consoles...

That doesnt make MW2 any better. I bought the game, I played for a week and installed it.

CoD4 was far better.

CSS > BFBC2 > CoD4 > The sims 3 > Twilight? > anything_you_can_think_of > CoD6

Wrong!, MW2 is not by any means "beautiful", but just arcady (arcadey or however u spell it) fun.

@krentz know your history. Half Life 2 was never released for the PS3 in fact, no Valve game is on PS3; they refuse to develop for it. Lastly, a lot of you ppl keep bashing IW, they're not the problem Activision and their greed are. I don't think respawn is going to use Cry engine 3 or the frostbite engine. Though both are very nice I bet they'll develop their own engine. That's just my 2 cents though.

Comparing a $60 game to a show on cable is ridiculous. How many millions more own a TV than a console. And how many teenage girls are actually paying their cable bill. To them it is free entertainment.
