Hello! I've formatted my Samsung NP550P5C laptop because I just couldn't bear all the bloatware and other preinstalled "goodies" any longer. All is running nicely now, but the keyboard's Function keys are of course no longer responding. I'd really like to not install the Display Manager software, so is there any way to get functionality like mousepad deactivation, brightness and volume back on the keyboard without using software beyond drivers?

I had the same issue on a Samsung laptop of my own so I know what you speak of. There won't be anyway of doing this unless you manage to find and install keyboard drivers from Samsung's website for your laptop.
