Hello,
I have an Acer 7551g-5407. Recently my laptop crashed and I bought the recovery discs for it. I clicked restore to factory defaults and after about four hours of waiting I get the error fail to format disc partition 3. Do I have to get a new hard drive

Hello scorp665;
It might be that your HDD has failed. Before you go out and buy a replacement you can do some more testing.
AVG Rescue CD lets you create a bootable CD and will let you inspect the HDD (if possible) or do some testing
with a HDD test utility program it also has on the Rescue CD.
You can download the CD ISO image and burn it to a CD and use that CD to boot the laptop.
