Family would like First Laptop

My Mum would like a Laptop and has only been used to Windows XP with a Tower 512GB E System 1GB Memory.
As she only really Surfs the internet Youtube what would a simple system for her needs be, for example would a 80GB hard Drive be just a good with 4GB Memory a good option?

80GB HDD means it is very slow HDD. A quick research brought up a Toshiba Satellite L50-B-12Z for example.

My best suggestion is a chromebook as this is perfect what she needs. They are made to surf the web as they have generally good wifi modules and also have flash storage which should be faster than a hdd. As she doesn't need much space 16 or 32 gigs should be enough. Plus they don't degrade over time as most budget windows laptops do.

The alternative would be a cheap lenovo as they are good to.
