Hello,
I lost the installation cd that came with my phone HTC EXPLORER. I have a laptop but no internet connection. I want to use phone as modem when I plugg USB cable in I get a message about drivers not found and it asked to install cd. Is there something I can do? Screen on phone is so small.

i'm not sure about your phone but my htc smartphone has the installation drivers right on the phone. when i connect in usb disk mode i have 3 drives show up: my sd card, my internal memory and a htc drivers drive.

i know verizon wireless wants you to pay for the ability to tether your smartphone to the pc as a modem. i'm sure quite a few other carriers do as well. the two workarounds i know of are pdanet which is an app which grants a limited function and using a custom rom called miui which requires rooting your phone which grants full access. why vzw restricts a function that comes on the phone stock is beyond me but i would guess pure greed.

the connection mode will be via a wifi hotspot. you set it up on your phone and then type the information in on your laptops wifi dialog boxes. in essence your phone acts like a wireless router not a physically connected modem per se.
