I have a Philips P536 TCLS flash. Will it work with Canon G6, which I
going to buy? Its foot has only one metal projection, while Canon's
flashes have more.

A shoe with one contact means that the camera would trigger the flash
to fire, but to no other fancy features in terms of communication
between the camera and flash will operate. In a sense 'it works', but
not to full advantage.
For example, if the flash has a photosensor built into it, the flash
will automatically stop the light output when IT THINKS there is enough
light, not when the camera says there is enough light. Or if the flash
sends an 'enough light' indicator to the camera (which might be seen in
the viewfinder of an SLR, for example) the camera does not get the
signal passed back from the flash.

It may aslo damage the camera if the flash voltage is too high. The Canon
220EX flash works very well on the G6.
