Formatted my Sony Handycam HDR-CX520 using my laptop... deleted the folders. Now camera not working. Help pls!

I formatted my Sony Handycam HDR-CX520 using my laptop, and deleted the folders used to store video files. Now my camera is not working. What can I do?

When you say the camera does not work to you mean it won't turn on or it won't record or is it something else? Have you tried resetting the camera? Does the camera power on? If yes, are you able to access the menus? The more specifics you can provide the better.

It turns on. It won't record.

When I try to record, it shows this logo (page 9, right-side, go to 'Centre'... then 'Warning (108)'... first row, second icon: https/docs.sony.com/release/HDRCX520V_handbook.pdf

I formatted it like a usb using the laptop. Now there's no folders to put recordings into. When I connect it to my laptop, there are no folders anymore.

I tried resetting, same happens.

The camera powers on.

I can access the menus, but the language is Japanese which I don't understand. The camera was a gift off my martial arts tutor. Is there a language file I can upload perhaps?

Is there anything else you need to know? Tnx for your help.

You will need to reformat the drive using the camcorder. For help with that refer to page 92. The error you are seeing is most likely the "internal memory format error".
