I recently updated an app I had had installed for a few months, and after it finished my tablet restarted which never happens. When it started booting up again, it got stuck on the Samsung splash screen. I got into the wipe data menu and factory reset it, then wiped the cache and hit reboot. It still gets stuck at the Samsung screen now no matter how long I wait (as much as 5 hours). Does anyone know a way to fix this?

I am assuming the phone wasn't rooted. If it was, then that could be a factor and I don't deal with rooting. :)

If it wasn't rooted, then it may be a problem with the phone itself, physical problem. I am assuming you had taken out the SD card when you did the reset, if this is the case, then you would need to have the phone looked at.

If it is still under warranty, I would contact the manufacturer.
Well, depending on how the reset was done, it may have left info on the phone. I am including info on how to do a "Hard Reset" of the device, but please note this will wipe all personal data off the device. If this does not resolve your problem, then there may be something else wrong with the tablet that just happened to occur at the same time/after the update, but may not be related to the update.

NOTE: Doing this will clear 'all' the data on your tablet, so it is suggested you not choose this option unless you have to, or aren't worried about losing anything on the device.

Be sure you back up any data you want to keep, to a computer or cloud account, before doing the reset.

To "Hard Reset" the tablet...

1. Make sure that the tablet is actually powered off.

2. Remove your SD card, if there is one in the device.

3. Press the "Power" and the "Volume Up" buttons, together, until you see the start-up logo on the screen.

4. Once you can see the logo, release the buttons and allow the device to enter the "System Recovery Mode".

5. Next use "Volume Down" button to get to the "wipe data/factory reset" option When in recovery mode the "Volume Up" and "Volume Down" buttons are how to can navigate and highlight what option you need.

6. Once you have selected the "wipe data/factory reset", press the "Power" button to select that option.

7. On the following screen, repeatedly press the "Volume Down" button until the "Yes - delete all user data" option is what is selected.

8. Then press the "Power" button to hard reset the tablet.

9. If you took your SD card out in step 2, when the device is up and running again, reinsert the SD card.

Yeah I was never confident in my abilities to root to have rooted it, it's completely stock. :)

And yes, I took the SD card beforehand. Thank goodness I set all my pictures to be stored there or I would be missing pics of my son after being born.

I'm not sure how long the warranty is, but I think I got it around Christmas of 2014.

And I did contact Samsung support, and they said I should "bring it" to their service place in Hong Kong xD
