Gaming Laptop Alienware M17x won't go to windows screen.

When trying to turn on my Alienware laptop, it will power on but won't load windows. The screen is completely black and the caps, num, and scroll lights flash. Any help would be appreciated.

Nope its completely black. And wont even let me go into windows boot up by pressing F8.

Do you have any idea what caused it? If the screen is not lit up, maybe the cable is loose inside the laptop between the screen and mainboard.

I was turning it off by using the power button. I am aware that this kinda screws up the os but the computer wouldn't turn off normally.

I would say open up the laptop and unplug the cable, then plug it back in.

Checked and that doesn't seem to be the problem. However i checked the fans and they had a weird smell.
