hey guys,
i am looking for a gaming laptop for 1000 $ or slightly less. (i cannot get a desktop pc)
It definitely has to be a 15.6" with 1080p display and an optical drive(dvd).
i dont think i need more than 8 gigs of ram. Also a backlit keyboard and at least partial ssd would be nice. i would obviously sacrifice on the processer for a better graphics card.
Games i would like to play on it are gta V once it comes out and obviously hl3 ;)

Too bad the current lenovo y series does not include a dvd drive. i would have gone for the old lenovo y510p, but i heard its overheating and is out of stock :/
However i was looking at the MSI GP60:

What do you think?
Any advice is much appreciated :)
Greetings,
Mo

My Y500 has an ultra bay which can be used for an optical drive, an extra hard drive or a second GPU. I swapped out my DVD drive for a 2nd graphics card in SLi. I love this gaming lappy. I have the i7 version with 2 gt 750ms and 8 gig RAM. It was on sale 849 when I bought it and the second GPU was 199 so 1050 total price. Y50 is the newer version of the y500. I don't use DVD's much (Steam & Origin) so I don't miss it.

@Rijik
But i really would like to avoid the hassle of always having to carry around an external optical drive :/

@ Br4veSirRobin
Yes i would have liked it as well, too bad they do not sell the y500 anymore :(

Y50 is a newer version of the Y500 and it looks exactly like mine....well, my daughters (LOL). Seriously, carrying an optical drive is a pain BUT it's a rocking lappy for a grand. I have never owned an MSI product but MSI has a great rep.
