It all depends one how serious you want to get. If you are doing a lot of image editing for printing you have to be careful about colors. A monitor with accurate colors is a must, plus something called a colorimeter to calibrate it. Any video card will be ok for editing photos especially if you are using DVI or HDMI connection. They are digital and there is not an advantage from one to another as far as color is concerned. The 30" monitors are AWESOME for editing photos. There is just no comparison as far as resolution is concerned, but htye run $1300+. There are a lot of great 24" out there that area a great compromise and you can get two and a computer for the price of one 30". Having a lot of memory helps when editing large photos. Of course a quad core will be better than a dual core, but a good dual core will rip right through large files. Follow seth89's instructions for back. You might even want to consider some online storage space. If this is for business purposes, take this VERY seriously. Image what it would be like to tell someone you lost their wedding photos.
