Getting sound from Windows lap top through Sony 5.1 home theatre

I have a Sony DVD Home Theatre System and want to run a Netflix movie from my lap top through my sound system

Whats your laptop name/model?
You can do this if it has a SPDIF out socket, 3 Normal jacks coloured ORANGE, BLACK and SILVER.
Otherwise you may need to think about getting external sound card.

Never heard of a lap top with colored sockets. I have Windows 8.1. I have a HDMI port. The issue is connection to the home theatre sound system. I can hook up the Netflix to the TV, the issue is there is no sound, as you need to connect to receiver for home theatre.

What laptop are you using?
What's your TV name/model?
After this we can get this set up.
