gmail account lost

Hello! I have been abroad for the past year and half and my UK mobile is no longer in use! I tried my email address but goolge seem to have a very strict security settings and does not allow me to change passwords with the codes that they sent me through my email account! Can some one help please? I have been for the past weeks on many forums that others have suggested but still does not work!
