Solved! Hd noob/ resolution help

Sorry if this is long winded, I recently purchased a vizio 42" LCD from Walmart the 422vl 120hz 1090p 100000:1. I was very happy about the picture quality/ sound quality. Only one problem the screen could have been bigger.i found a referb 470vl on eBay for the same price with a one year warranty and took back my Walmart tv . There the same as far as specs with the Internet bs. Now here's my issue, the picture isn't as clear as the 42". Right now I'm running directtv And they don't offer 1080p just 720. If I shrink the picture by openin the guide it looks crystal clear lol but that doesn't help. Did I buy a bust? Or does that 42" display 720p better then the 47" .

If you sit at the same distance the smaller screen will always be more sharp and clear regardless. It might be a lower model in addition to that perhaps.
