My cable box was fried during a severe thunderstorm. I found that the HDMI port that was connected to it is also not working. I tried a different cable, but no luck.
Should I try anything else before bringing the TV in for repairs?

Solution

seems needs repair . but if you are out of warranty , an HDMI switch would solve your problem .. you can even extend it to 3 or more using 3 or more HDMI switch...

3 ports

tried with what? if the cable box was fried ?

are you sure its working?

use the HDMI with your pc and see .

also , you have 2 HDMI on that TV , so try them both.

do you have a notebook around with HDMI ? a Console ? anything with HDMI ? your PC ?

The TV has 2 HDMI ports. I used one with the cable box and the other is connected with my PC. Both the PC and TV work on Port #2. Port #1 was connected to the old cable box. The PC and TV do not work on Port #1 any more.

Solution
Well its obviously the port and there's not much you can do to fix it. Your options are to replace the main board yourself, pay someone to fix it , buy a HDMI switch or buy and new tv. Main boards for that model are going for $35-$40 on ebay.
