HDMI Signal drops out

We bought a 32" SAMSUNG Smart tv UE32J5600AKXXU in November. We have a Sony DVD/Hard Drive recorder connected by HDMI cable. The TV keeps losing the HDMI signal part-way through viewing recorded programmes/DVDs - even though it is there when we switch on. I found that unplugging and re-plugging the HDMI cable bfrom the port clears the issue for a while but almost everything we watch via the HDMI cable gets interrupted.
Any ideas for a solution, please?

1. Try a different HDMI input on the TV. Should not matter but it sometimes does.
2. Try a different cable. If it is a long cable get one that has an amplifier in it.
