HDMI Splitter how to installation projector

Good day,

I purchased recently a J-Tech Digital's 3 Port HDMI 3x1 Powered Switch Ver 1.3 Certified for Full HD 1080P Deep 36 Bit Color & HD Audio. I tried few configurations but it never worked. I would appreciate it if you could help me with the installation/configuration since the instructions that come with the unit are not that clear.

I have the following devices that I would like to connect to the unit:

Optoma HD73 Projector with 1 HDMI Connector
Denon AVR-888 AV Surround Receiver with the following 3 HDMI Connectors (2 IN Connectors - DVD/HDP and TV/CBL - and 1 OUT Connector)
Sony KDL-37M3000 LCD Digital Color TV with 2 HDMI IN Connectors
Sony DVP-NS718H CD/DVD Player with 1 HDMI OUT Connector

I see a problem already, you have a switch that takes 3 inputs to 1 output.
You have two devices that want that output.(TV and Projector)
Your Denon will do the same but with more outputs. Put the switch away. Connect the inputs to the Denon 888, Use the HDMI to projector and the component to TV. Hopefully your good and operating the denon inputs and outputs.

If understood correctly, the HDMI Splitter I purchased is useless and I need a high quality Component Video cable to connect the TV and the Receiver. It is so simple!

Well yes, partly.
You need two HDMI or DVI outputs.
I don't think you will be happy with Composite outputs to the TV
Try the HDMI to tv as well.

Got it now! I realized I purchased the wrong device. I should have bought a HDMI Splitter 1 In to 2 Out instead of a HDMI Switch 3 In to 1 Out!

Honestly, I didn’t understand the differences among switcher, splitter and matrix.

So here are the definitions:

Splitter is for one input to multiple outputs (such as one cable box to multiple TVs), such as http/www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00263D7A4/ref=cm_cd_asin_lnk

Switcher is for multiple inputs to one output (such as cable, DVD & satellite boxes to one TV), such as http/www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00342Z8D0/ref=cm_cd_asin_lnk

Matrix is for multiple inputs to multiple outputs, such as http/www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00263YDCK/ref=cm_cd_asin_lnk

If you are looking to display the same image on 2 HDMI Monitors
from one HDMI Video source you need a HDMI Splitter not a switch. Usually hdmi splitters are easy to use and install, KVMSwitchTech is a reliable supplier of video splitters in case you need to buy HDMI Splitter products.

Your best bet is to check with supplier. I have used KVMSwitchTech's HDMI Switch and HDMI Splitter products in the past and they work well.
