i just orderd a 60in 1080p hdtv and i want to plug my computer to it to watch movies and play games/use for everything(will be building it in about a month). I was wondering what a decent card would look like on it. And if i need something high end i might need to upgrade some of my components. What cables/ adapters would i need?

What card?

heres the tv. Sony Grand WEGA SXRD

I want full 1080p resolution from my pc!!!!

I know that most recent video card is capable of 1080i and even higher resolution that your monitor is not, on native resolution. I'm not sure if the newest and top of the line card is capable of 1080p option as extended TV setup.

Try 1080 as your primary display, and even that I'm not sure if it's progressive scan so check the manufacturer’s specs and if not clear on their marking info’s. Then give them a call to make sure they support the resolution you want.

My ATI 7500 AIW is connected to my big screen and it looks good to me.
I use it as primary display since the computer is use for media only anyway. Bear on mind that this is 7500 series so it provably does not support 1080 on progressive but, I've seen interlace on big screen and I can spot the lines at close distance.
Here’s my driver ver:

Driver Packaging Version 8.231-060221a1-030895C-ATI
CATALYST™ Version 06.3
Provider ATI Technologies Inc.
2D Driver Version 6.14.10.6601
2D Driver File Path System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Video\{D4D59FC5-DBEB-4303-B827-1008C8533206}\0000
Direct3D Version 6.14.10.0384
OpenGL Version 6.14.10.5696
CATALYST™ Control Center Version 1.1.1816.25974
AIW/VIVO WDM Driver Version 6.14.10.6246

I'm just waiting for my daughter to get me my 2 PS3 system so I can connect it to the TV and try it if there's and difference at all.

edited: I've seen interlace on big screen and I can spot the lines at close distance. at 30 Hz. not 60 Hz so big difference. sorry about that.
