Hdtv antenna's channels

So hdtv antenna's only pick up local channels? Or can they also receive cable channels?

A TV antenna will only pickup signals that are broadcast locally. Unless one of your local channels rebroadcasts the cable channel you want, you won't be able to receive it. There are a few "cable" channels like ION that are broadcasted by some channels on the ".2" channels.
