I am looking for headphones that are good for positional audio for games such as CSGO. And just general use, I also listen to music 80% that I am on on my computer (when working or gaming, ect) so I want them to be very good sound. They also need to be comfortable for long periods of time. I am definitely not an audiophile and don't really know what I'm doing But I was looking at the Sennheiser HD 558's and the Audio Technica ATH-AD700X.

TLDR

1. Need positional audio of some sort
2. Superb quality
3. Needs to be comfortable
I am looking at these so far

ALL "positional audio" is fake, including so called "7.1" headsets. You have two ears, and determine position mainly by differences in strength and latency in audio signals. With proper mixing, any headphone will be great for finding out where audio comes from. Just make sure to set the program to pre-mix by selecting the "headphone" option in the system menu. Hell, BF4 has a special binaural approximation menu to let you pick the mixing style you want, and all those should be far better for positional audio than a real 7.1 speaker...
I own a set of audio technica a700x and i will second the thought on getting it, i love mine greatly.

Im not a counter strike fan but do play heavy amounts of first person shooters.

I.E. Arma/battlefield/rainbow six siege/warface/etc etc etc

So in games like siege or battlefield can you hear footsteps or gunshots from where they are coming from? Or does the a700x not have a surround or stereo sound?
Basically does it have positional audio?
Thanks for the input

The HD558/HD598 are good, as are the ATH-AD500x/700X. If you need a mic, you can get something like the mod mic for one of the above, or the G4ME ZERO/ONE headset

Yeah I understand that, I was just putting it into basic terms. But at the moment I'm kind of right where I started, If you could choose one (preferably the a700x or the HD558 because they are both 99$) which one would you choose.

Well, open sets like the HD558 will be slightly better for gaming if you have a quiet room, but $99 for the ATH-A700X is a pretty damn good savings (normally ~$180). If you can find the AD700X for the same price (or under $120) that would be even better.

Sorry but just to be clear, http://www.amazon.com/Audio-Technica-ATH-AD700X-Audiophile-Headphones/dp/B009S332TQ you think these are the best option, especially considering that its $99? I think we are talking about the same headphones, just making sure though.
