Hello, got a question for someone who know a extensive bit about computers and connection ports ex. hdmi - vga's - usb's etc..

Hello im looking to capture my hdmi channel/picture from my tv using my laptop..

currently i have my gaming computer hooked up to my tv on HDMI 1. but am unsure how to use my laptop to capture HDMI 1. I only have a HDMI output on my laptop so using a HDMI splitter wont work because when I hook it up it just outputs either my laptop display or my gaming computer display.

Someone please help if possible!

And the HDMI on your TV are only inputs, so not possible.

As Emerald states, you'll need an HD Capture device. Depending on what you're trying to capture, you'll connect the source (gaming PC/TV Set top Box) to the capture device via HDMI and then a USB connection to your laptop.

This helps some of my questions thank you, I was a bit vague in what im trying to accomplish though. so with that box it record's gameplay, im looking to live stream the gameplay to twitch (if you are familiar with that live streaming site). now this box that emerald has posted would it have a screen that is "live(picture/audio)" that I would be able to capture with OBS (open broadcast software)? If so I believe this would work perfect.

I would think (but don't know) that there would be some sort of preview software so you can view what's being recorded. If that's the case, then you should be able to broadcast that.
