Help Dell D630 pre boot problem

Guys and Galls,

I have a problem with my wifes Dell D630 that I can not identify.
On pressing pwr button, power led is on for a approx 2 secs followed by a blinking wireless
led onlyand a Blank screen ( no splash either). I am also unable to find a pre boot diagnostic for this condition.

Any guidance would be much appreciated.

I'm going to suggest trying without the battery installed (power adapter only), see where you get then. If still nothing without the battery, you can try a reset.
To reset the laptop, with battery out of the laptop and power adapter unplugged, press and hold the power button for ~30 seconds. Put battery back in and plug in adapter, attempt to power on then

check your memory is properly inserted.

it's a fairly straightforward job getting to the dimm under the keyboard. good luck 😀

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your info. I tried what CF suggested which changed the symptoms. I now have a On/Off pwr LED when the power button is pushed on/off!. I am guessing at a mobo/cpu prob. If I can sort it then great but wifes birthday so have ordered an early pressie. Tech-wreck. Will give it a go but if no ram installed (unseated) would i not get a led fault code?

didn't check the led fault codes, as I had just tried installing more memory. after unclipping and reseating the dimms, it worked fine.
