I am trying to hook my sony smart tv up to my rca blue ray player but I can't get no sound threw the spearkers. I need help and step by step help

Should be as simple as connecting the HDMI cable to the TV from the player and selecting the right input. Is the volume up enough? Maybe try a different cable or different input on the TV.
