What is your budget specifically? What type of games are you looking to play? Also since its for school, what type of battery life are you looking for?

My budget is somewhere between 700 and 900 but with taxes the laptop should be under 1000
The games I would like to play are like bf4 or insurgency but I want the gpu more for high res video than gaming
And I need, at the minimum, 7 hours of battery life

Gaming laptops generally tend to have abysmal battery lives but here's a couple laptops I think might fit your needs:

Alienware 13. There are usually coupons for it online that can slash the price down a bit more. You can get the base model with a formidable GTX 960M and the ULV CPU will be very beneficial for battery life.

Also note other than the alienware 13, the other laptops have somewhat less than 7 hours of battery life. Some Acer V Nitros are reported to have 7 hours of battery life but it seems to be a hit or miss. Gaming laptops generally just don't have that great battery lives because of the power requirements. If you are willing to shell out more money, I would recommend Razer Blade 14 which has excellent battery life but its very costly.
