I want to disable Incognito mode for Chrome, or at the very least not be able to browse... questionable material while Incognito. Any way to fix this?

Solution
There's nothing to fix, incognito mode has nothing to do with whether or not you can browse "questionable material". It also can't be disabled; it's not enabled by default, it's simply there as an option. What you're looking for sounds more like parental controls.

Except that those controls do not work while browsing incognito. That is the problem.

Correct, parental controls are useless when incognito is open. I think a petition should begin to force Google to give us permission to deactivate that feature as a parent. But they refuse. Porn is the #1 reason for Incognito mode, not Christmas shopping or keeping your info safe. I believe that Google gets a kickback from the porn industry for this feature, that is why they REFUSE to allow ANYONE to figure out how to deactivate or delete it, even off of our children's phones especially. Porn is thrown at them daily, of course they will want to view. Immature minds have no business on incognito mode. Google is getting paid for this, if you can't figure out a reason....follow the money...always is the answer.

I was out in the kitchen, and returned to find my toddler grand-daughter had been on the computer... and this incognito page is on, I cannot find the disable option. I've never seen it before, and don't need/want it. Please help.

Filtering software such as NetNanny will block porn and whatever else you want to filter even when Chrome is in incognito mode. It's not free but worth it. They have it for computers and mobile devices.

It's still shameful that Google will not allow disabling of incognito mode. There's much that is not porn that we still would like to know if our kids are viewing. Having the threat of mom checking the history is a powerful motive for them to stay safe. And finding things in the history gives good opportunities for teaching while they are young.

I've been looking and trying ways for quite a while to no avail. What many geniuses saying, "just get parent controls" don't get is you can use Incognito to browse for ways to bypass those very controls. I've been able to find add-ons for Firefox that disable private browsing and even prevent the history from being deleted. These people also don't understand that even though it's important for many people to protect what their kids watch, there are also many who put these safeguards in place for themselves because they are trying to abstain from certain sites. I'm guessing there must be some monetary or other motive as to why Incognito Mode seems about impossible to disable.

Perhaps you can help. Ever since the incognito option appeared every seach I wish to do or even going to a page link in the search results requires me to choose either my account or the browse incognito option. It has become particularly annoying. Will the removal or disabling of incognito stop this ridiculous state of affairs?

Dude, I have the same problem. The parental controls don't affect incognito. I really need to stop browsing certain questionable material, but I can't with the stupid incognito mode, it's killing me.

I would start with OpenDNS.
They allow family safe browsing. You can either change DNS at device level &/or router level. I recommend both on children's devices.

Otherwise a VPN may offer filtering of adult sites at a cost usually.

Then there's. Host file filtering, spybot, spyware blaster, ad blockers, and firewalls.

Many newer routers have family filters built into them.

You flcan also shop around for a different browser that has no incognito or allows it to be disabled.

Not any one on its own can protect 100% constantly. A layered approach of using a few of the above ways are recommended.

Also I do believe all images and flash, video can be denied but it makes a real ugly surfing experience.

I totally agree that this is outrageous and cynical on the part of Chrome and Android phone programmers. They don't really want people to find effective ways of censoring their browsing. After all, porn and gambling sites are mega/ giga business. Therefore it pays to encourage addictive behaviour. If you find a solution, please let me know!

I agree. This IS OUTRAGEOUS. And after an hour of searching on the internet this is clearly something Google will not help happen.

For Android, I know of at least two apps which attempt to disable incognito browsing in Chrome. Searching the Play Store for "disable incognito" should get you on the right path.

For Android, you can use Incognito Away for disabling incognito mode in Chrome. I also use ShieldMyTeen as a parental control filter. I haven't found a way yet for windows.

I found a workaround, at least until Google developers didn't realize the impact of this problem. Install the app "Disable Incognito Mode" then enable it, after that install the "AppLock" to protect or hide this app, also protect your "AppLock" not to uninstall it. This works in my Note4. Well, I don't care if my kids ask me why I installed these apps, I can manage to explain that.
