How do I access my email on my brand new netbook?

Hello,
I recently bought an Acer netbook with Windows 7. When logging on for the first time and trying to set everything up, I noticed I had no icon for email. I am able to access the internet, but I have been unable to figure out how to send or receive emails. I have an email address to use, I just can't figure out how to set it up.

There is no installed mail client in Windows 7 (that is, there is no Outlook Express). You can download one from Microsoft (Windows Essentials), or any other place you like (e.g. Mozilla' Thunderbird).

Of course, you will have to know details about your e-mail provider (POP3/IMAP and SMTP properties).

Microsoft discontinued installing email services from the installation cd i think since vista.

They still have it at Microsoft's website for free, it was Windows Live Mail which was the successor of outlook, now its Windows Essentials.
