That's wrong. CEC doesn't give u the video signal, it's a control mechanism to turn TV on/off as u power dvd or switch to the proper input automatically without you having to do it manually.

For a DVD player, it maybe more advantageous to hookup through COMPONENT VIDEO, a 5-cables hookup, for some people with HDMI problems. Of course TV must have this connection also.
