How do I get the most money out of this busted laptop?

Laptop corner started opening up when lifting monitor. Now "cannot find OS" on bootup. I want to make sure I wipe all my data before I sell it. Any ideas? Maybe download and burn an OS, boot from drive, then do something? Any good places to sell busted laptops. Screen is fine, keyboard works, charges fine. Just maybe the hard drive is messed up. THANK YOU!

either use boot and nuke on it not just a quick format or take the hard drive out before selling it

can you explain what "boot and nuke" means. I have a cd burner on a desktop but i need to do this in the next few days

thanks for the reply. I'm confused though. How would I do this? The computer won't boot (except into Bios)

this doesnt need an operating system to wipe the hard drive

boot to bios with the cd/usb in change 1st boot device to cd/usb then exit bios

the program should then run letting you securely wipe the drive

all this is assuming the hard drive is physically working of course--does it show in the bios?

If the laptop is giving the "cannot find OS" message, it probably cannot even read the hard drive.

Sell it without the hard drive, if it's bad, it's useless to sell with it anyway and it will not affect the price at all for a system in bad shape.
