how do I make my Samsung galaxy tab 4 faster?

My tablet is getting slower and slower it takes like a good 4 seconds to turn on and off. So slow. It's next to my fish tank when charging and sometimes my fish will splash a little water onto the screen. Do you think that's making it slower?

Unless the water is seeping into the device itself, that's probably not it. Things just naturally get slower with time, especially if you've installed a lot of apps or are running a lot of things at the same time.
