Most games that I know of don't support slis that well. Also you will have to look if the laptop can handle the heat.

In most scenarios no. The cpu is more than capable of doing a lot of intense tasks. Ram is fine too. DDR4 is starting to be introduced. I don't know much increase in performance that has.

Future proofing speaking, 970m 6gb sli or single 980m 8gb?

I don't know as I have never used slis before. The 980m is a very powerful gpu that can handle all games at ultra assuming that the cooling is good. So I don't know how much better or worse the sli 970m is.
