How to connect PC+ Creative Sound card + Sony DAV-DZ370 5.1 Home theater

Hi,

1. I have a T7500 Workstation with Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio Sound Card PCIe SB1040.

2. I have also Sony DAV-DZ370 5.1 Home theater.

How can I connect my Workstation with Sony home theater to get 5.1 surround sound (in game play and movie ?

Any assistance or guidance that would be appreciate.

It looks like movies will be 5.1 over toslink but your games will not.

To get gaming 5.1 over optical your sound card needs DTS Connect or DD Live to real time encode the audio. Based on the table in this link, your card doesn't support these:

Your Creative card should have an optical output jack. It is the grey one labeled Optical Out. Your stereo should have an optical input jack. You connect the output of the card to the input of the stereo. Then you just change sources on the stereo to the optical jack.

Sometimes the computer does not automatically detect the new audio device. If you have problems post again for solutions.

The optical cable will work fine. The SB0880 does support DDL and DTS Connect but... the newest driver is for Win 8.1 so it depends on your OS.

That picture requires I have a dropbox account. According to the specs it has an optical input. That is a standardized connector. The cable type I showed you should work fine.

What does it not do? No sound at all or no surround sound? Did you select optical as the input in the receiver's menu?
