Simple connection would be Tape Deck and CD player audio out must be connected on Equalizer's Audio input, then connect the Equalizer output to CD, Tape or Receiver’s Auxiliary input . Select Auxiliary input on the receiver if that is where you connected the EQ.

More connections that are complex require more wires and certain inputs and outputs on your receiver.

this is pretty simple to do so long as you have a tape monitor feature on your receiver . i have a newer yamaha receiver and it does not have a tape monitor like so many have had standard , and i am not so sure it has any other audio out that would be useful for an equalizer .

Unless the manual is long gone for your 40 year old receiver and you're just looking for a little help, not snarky answers.
