Solved! How to install xp over vista on compaq nc6220 laptop

dear sir,
i have a laptop compaq nc 6220 with window vista installed.. i want to install windows xp on it but when i put the cd in the dvd rom it make running sound but does not boot.. as my first boot device is the cd rom.

There should be an option when you first start it up that says press "f2" or something to enter boot menu. From there, you should be able to boot from the XP CD.
