How to pick up radio signals with my pc

Hello,
my boyfriend works for a cab company and would like to know if it is possible and legal to tap into the tower and pick up his company's signal from our pc?

dont know about the legality in this situation, wide band radios for listening to air traffic control etc are legal, used to get police etc to but they moved to a diff frequency no longer convered by wideband.

try looking for wideband radio hardware which is pc complient via serial etc, i dont think it'll be cheap though.
