how to solder 5.1 speaker wires

Hi,

i have a Creative SBS 5.1 speaker system.it has a plain speakers wire and a subwoofer wire solded into the sub. these wires are attached to a Remote/Controll pod on the other end. and this pod returns three (green,black,orange) for input.

Now the problem is that, the wires inside the remote controller cord are damaged internally..
i used to work if i twist the wire somewhere 😛 ...but that stopped working...
i would like to change all the wires because speakers still sound great.

Question is that

1 ) which wires and Controll pod to buy (what are these called )
2 ) how to solder these wires

flux/rosin core solder/soldering iron. don't forget to get heat shrink tubing.

i do have solder and soldering wire. if you can say something about this speaker wire set (Speaker wires + subwoofer wire + controll pod) this will be very helpfull.

only wires I know anything about are the ones in front of me that I need to solder.
